BIOGRAPHY
By the time she turned 11, Joyce McClure had thousands of miles and many years of travel to her credit. It was then that she traveled halfway around the world with her parents to take up residence in Iran when her father became general manager of a consulting project for the Shah's government. They returned home to Wichita, Kansas after two years in the desert of southwestern Iran, but the experience set the course for a lifelong passion for people and cultures around the world.
After graduating with a BFA degree from Stephens College (Columbia, MO), Joyce moved to New York City where she embarked on a career in public relations, working with top photographers and editors on behalf of clients that included DeBeers, Nestle, Carnation, Seagram wines and spirits, Nina Ricci Parfums, and many other international brands. After 20 years in New York, Joyce moved to Maine, Boston, Los Angeles and eventually arrived in Seattle in 2005 where she is now based.
Joyce has traveled extensively throughout Europe, South Africa, Central Asia, China, Tibet, India, the Middle East, Canada and the United States, and returned to Iran in 2003. In August/September 2007 she traveled to Delhi, Dharamsala and Ladakh, a remote region of northern India that some believe is more Tibetan than Tibet due to its population of exiles and Buddhist culture.
Joyce's photos have been showcased in both group and solo shows, are in numerous private collections, and available as stock images, fine art prints and for sale through selected retail outlets. She is also available for special assignments and welcomes inquiries from print and online media, book publishers, non-profit relief organizations and private and public enterprises. |
